On Friday OCTOBER 9th @11AM bring three items
a) your Best In Show board entry
b) a vertical surfboard stand
c) a 3.5″ x 5″ informational proof of concept write-up that explains to the judges everything about your board and the finer details of the build process.
The board will be on display at The Boardroom Surfboard Show October 10 & 11, 2025
The winning board and builder will be announced on Sunday October 11th at 3pm.

JUDGING

Judging will be weighted with a mix of a) expert board builders, b) public vote, and c) exhibitors vote.

Your Super El Niño Big Wave Gun will be judged using the criteria listed below:

FUNCTIONALITY, CREATIVITE FORWARD THINKING DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION QUALITY
First and foremost the design must be functional. Make us a big wave gun; whatever that design term means to you. i.e. it could be for Blacks or Todos or Rincon or Jaws or Nazere or Swamis or Ocean Beach etc etc. Please incorporate design concepts that will push big wave surfing forward during this super El Niño winter. The quality of the craftsmanship from nose to tail including but not limited to shape, lamination, artwork, sand and finish–every aspect of the build must be top quality and will be scrutinized. This is NOT an art contest. World class surfboard artwork absolutley helps in the same way that world class lamination and other attentive design concepts will help you.

PRIZES

1st place Best In Show Board Build-off presented by REAL Watersports will receive $5K cash, a complimentary 10′ x 10′ booth at the 2027 Boardroom Surfboard Show presented by US Blanks = $6K value in cash and prizes.

2nd place Best In Show Board Build-off presented by REAL Watersports will receive a complimentary 10′ x 10′ booth at the 2027 Boardroom Surfboard Show presented by US Blanks = $1K value
