WCT Events

Nine events: which focus on quality waves wherever they may be found within a given month.

Tour is more or less dictated by swell and not by time;

Tour infrastructure, logistics, operations are to be re-thought and re-tooled so as to be as light, nimble and flexible as possible while still maintaining a quality end user internet broadcast.

Bells and whistles are limited for the sake of quality surf.

Production team is lean and mean: IT chief, broadcast backend labor, production director, broadcast talent X4 – two on; two off, communications specialist.

When swell and winds are more or less ideal; the call is made and the first heat runs in within a day, perhaps two days.

The entire event takes 2 days.

WCT SEASON

January 15 – February 28: Peahi* (Honolua Bay/Sunset Beach/Mavericks)

March: Gold Coast Centric i.e Snapper or Kirra

April: Australia focus on Bells Winkipop / Margaret River

May: Tavarua

June: Teahupoo

July: J-Bay*

August: Puerto Escondido

September: Lowers

October OFF

November OFF

December: Pipeline*

*Peahi, JBay and Pipeline are WCT MAJORs ; worth more points and more $$$

All events are subject to relocation and are dependent on quality waves to run. Schedule is subject to change!!! The swells dictate our future.

Competitor/Confessional Booth Report: Each competitor is required to go into a broadcast booth; put on a headset; look into the camera and give his or her breakdown of the heat or any thoughts he or she may have; if they don’t talk they get fined. Minimum of one minute. Maximum of five minutes. If all is quiet: Then questions pop up for the competitor on a screen.
